How the MASH Game Works
MASH is the fortune-telling game generations grew up playing in the back of class — fold the paper, draw the spiral, count the rings, and find out you're destined to live in a shack in Paris with your third-choice crush. Our version keeps the authentic rules: a magic number (derived from your crushes' names) counts around every option — home, city, job, car, kids, and spouse — striking out every Nth one until a single future survives in each category.

What does MASH stand for?
MASH stands for Mansion, Apartment, Shack, House — the four possible homes in your predicted future. The rest of the game fills in who you'll marry, where you'll live, your job, your car, and how many kids you'll have.
How do you play MASH?
Write MASH at the top of a page, then list options for spouse, city, job, car, and kids. Pick a magic number (ours comes from your names), then count around all the options, crossing out every Nth one. When a category has one option left, it's locked in — that's your future.
Is the MASH result random?
It's deterministic: the same crush names always produce the same future, just like counting on paper always lands the same way. Change a name and destiny changes with it.
Where did the MASH game come from?
MASH is a paper-and-pencil game that swept American and British playgrounds and sleepovers from the 1970s onward. It's the Western cousin of games like FLAMES — a fortune teller you play with a pen and a crush.
